Was watching a drama on TV Al-Hijrah about a man with three wives. The fact that Al=Hijrah was showing it, the message behind it maybe to remind us ladies that, yes your husband can have more than one wife. The husband in the drama was categorized as rich, charitable, good to the wives, kind etc good looking too. Ha ha..
The first wife was a very patient and kind lady, she even said to the husband if he wanted another child ( they have two already), then he should marry since she has hypertension etc... True enough he went on to marry but the second wife was childless. Thus presumably the need to marry the third, without the first two wives' knowledge, just like when he took on the second without informing the first. The first was hurt but redha, the second simply exploded on hearing the news. She said the difference between her and the third wife is that when she married the man, she didn't know he already had a wife. In Islam can the man do all this without informing the current wife? Al-Hijrah condones the lying husband? Confused messages. In the end all the wives are good to one another. One big happy family. You wish! Maybe Al-Hijrah should just stick to tazkirahs and the likes. The three ladies were friends to each other before they knew the true secrets. So lessons learnt, rich and handsome guys do get away with three beautiful wives. Ha ha ha...
In real life, I know someone who is like the first wife, personally and she is a very nice lady. A mom to very successful children, 7 of them. A good example of someone who practices Islam and understands Islam. I too know someone who is like the second wife, a lovely lady too. But in real life she has two children before her husband married another. Both husbands are 'nice'. Both are happily married still, presumably since the marriages are so intact still. May Allah grant the two ladies Jannah for their sacrifies and patience. Amin.
