When I brought Iman Liyana (then Lend Ijon) to say her syahadah at the Pejabat Agama Islam Kajang we were greeted by staff who were so serious faced, no smiles, nothing and I felt embarassed as a muslim I couldn't feel the warmth of Islam, especially knowing that we were there to bring a non-believer to become one officially. I didn't know what was expected and she said her syahadah in front of the officers and that was it. It was such a private and impersonal affair, no rejoicing except for a tear in my eyes seeing someone I know became a believer. No credit to me cause I just drove her there, she learnt about Islam quietly on her own, way before I met her.
Listening to Yusuf Estes and watching him speak on Islam to a non-believer seemed so simple. The one important thing in life that no one can take away is what's inside us - our heart. We know from the Quran that there is one part of our body, if it's good then we as a human being would be good and if that part of our body is bad then the whole of us is bad i.e. our heart. The way he put is it's so simple.
If you are a non-believer and considerably you have a good heart what is it in life that you want that isn't good. You are probably nice to people, you don't hurt people, you don't steal, you are probably the charitable type, always helping people etc. There is no religion in the Universe that preachs on wrong doings, except to do good. That way you are giving your heart away, all the expressions that fit, a big heart. a warm heart... Islam is all about giving you heart away to the One and only Allah s.w.t.
There are five things that are required in one's life:
All this at once and the one word in Arabic is 'ISLAM'. Every Muslim in the world would read the same Book Al-Quran. Everyone in the world from Alaska to Timbuktu would read the same first surah and would recite it exactly the same. It is still the same words now, today as it was during the days of Rasullullah s.a.w. The whole Quran remains the same as it was. How can we not believe the word of Allah and Islam if we are searching for the truth.
