London-Baton Rouge-Dallas-Mesa Verde-Aspen-New Orleans-London

Memories are created  at every moment of our lives and when we flashed back to the time it was created that's when they turned into memories. In it are people that complete the picture, the emotions that run through those moments make up the memories that we built. Before I forget to tell stories to my Grandchildren, I decided to jot them down before the cycle of life sets in.

Flew in from Gatwick, London to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA in the summer of '78.The trip was to visit Dearest sister and bro-in-law who were both studying in Louisiana State University and bro-in-law was also a local resident. We did many things together, jogged round the University stadium, cycled round campus, we bowled (10-pin), met many nice people and several who became part of my life in later years until today. We travelled across Louisiana State, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado joined by bro-in-law's bro. We camped out, also slept under the open skies in Forth Worth(??), visited the Indian reservation in Mesa Verde. Then I could wiggle myself through the minute tunnels supposedly used by the Indians to get from one point to another. The experience of climbing the vertical steps was out of this world. Camped at Aspen Lakes and went fishing and mountain climbing there, gasping for oxygen after the climb. So young then yet so unfit but fun...

A real bonding time that stretched for 6 weeks. Meeting bro-in-law's family in New Orleans and getting to know both sister and husband. Meeting sister again after not being together for at least four years then was so welcoming and a blessing. The special bond built that hopefully will last a lot longer than 6 weeks and to date it would be 33 years on. All with the Grace and Blessings of God.
