Many years ago when two of the children were already in boarding school, or was it earlier than that, I took to reading my sister's crime story books by the likes of Anne Rule and many more. Sis got her books cheap whenever she goes back to her hubby's home in the United States. Books are always cheaper either in US or UK than in Malaysia.
Recently after being introduced by my daughter, I started watching real crime stories and 48 hours mysteries. Wow!! It's like reading many books in a day. I'm hooked. You wonder why I love reading or watching murder stories. My only explanation is that I am curious to know why people become the way there are so vicious and all that is unthinkable by the normal human mind. What good is that knowledge you may think..to be honest I do not know. My thoughts is that I may be able to change the world with this knowledge but alas my world was big enough for me to handle. Earlier in my blog I mentioned if I was not destined to be an engineer , I would have loved to become a psychologists.
Look up Real crime: Killed by a perfect son.
I learnt something from that crime story. The word Nacissistic disorder. After watching 6 parts of the story the supposedly perfect son who blundgeoned the parents to death was diagnosed with Nacissistic disorder. He was charged with manslaughter but not murder. Hmm... I have to watch that again, forgot the sentencing.
Hubby later looked up in Wiki what that word means (do look up)and to my surprise it describes the very person I know who has problems at my work place. Scary. I won't elaborate.
The only problem about watching these crime stories are that it doesn't describe much why the criminals become who they are. Reading books are better.
Many of the incidences in the crime stories are triggered by situations that can be prevented if the correct way of life (Ad-Deen) is being followed. Just take rapists for instances, if women do flaunt themselves in the skimpiest of clothing like the not so much two piece bikini, with hardly covering boobs and the Bermuda triangle what do you expect. I am not pro rapists , Astaghafirullah al Azim but think again. That is why the 'aurat' is clearly stipulated in 'The Book'.This is only one of many examples, there's pornography, alcohol, drugs etc. and all this influence the not so normal people negatively and make them become these rapists, murderers and the likes, probably... Nauzubillahminzalliq. May Allah saves us all from these horrifying incidents.
